Manta Ray Bay Resort & Yap Divers is a small, family-owned, luxury hotel, with only 35 rooms, on the pristine island of Yap in the western Pacific Ocean – operating since 1986.
The resort is proud to have recently been voted by the readers of Diver Magazine UK as one of the top 25 dive resorts worldwide and the Reader’s Choice Award as #5 dive resort in the Pacific/Red Sea/Indian Ocean.
The Resort is a full-service dive resort, designed by divers and built for divers. Each of the 35 uniquely themed rooms offer air conditioning, refrigerators (ocean view and deluxe rooms only), IDD telephone, Internet Access and in-room TV and DVD player.
Yap Divers ( PADI 5 Star facility ) is a full service facility with 8 modern boats, rental gear, dive shop, camera bays, gear rinse and storage. Up to 5 dives per day are offered to guests.
The dive traveler is offered all that he or she could ever ask for in terms of dive experiences with regularly scheduled drift dives, wall dives, cavern dives and night dives, as well as our specialty – Giant Manta dives. Yap is best known for its resident population of manta rays. It is still one of the only few places in the world where you have a chance of diving with a manta ray any day of the year.
Since 2006, The MantaFest program has brought underwater photographers, both amateur and professional, to this small island and its protected reef to compete for prizes, attend workshops, take tours of the island, and experience the unique culture of Yap, which is considered to be among the best preserved in the Pacific region.
Workshops are led by experts in the field providing their knowledge of all things related to taking better pictures including, but not limited to composition, lighting and photoshop. They also offer advice during sessions with local models in settings that include the island’s unique stone money banks and traditional dance performances. Daily dive trips provide opportunities to dive with and photograph the manta rays, sharks and the plethora of small, colorful tropicals such as the brightly colored mandarin fish and many more wonders of Yap’s underwater world.
