    Truk Information

Chuuk Atoll (also known as Truk) in the Caroline Islands is infamous for its giant lagoon. The lagoon is the final resting place for more than 70 ships, planes and submarines. The majority of these wrecks are the legacy of a fierce World War II battle between the Imperial Japanese Fleet and Allied carrier planes resulting in the most substantial naval loss in history.

The many islands in this atoll are beautiful tropical paradises. The outer barrier reef has coconut palm-filled sand spits that melt into diverse marine seascapes. The central lagoon has volcanic islands that rise dramatically from fantastically blue waters. Many of the islands have fertile soils that host an abundance of lush flora and fauna, including many rare species.

Weno is the main island in Chuuk and where the majority of the region’s population lives. Here you will find their country’s airport and a few hotels, shops, food and drink establishments.

    Blue Lagoon Resort - Chuuk

The Blue Lagoon Resort is Truk Lagoon’s premier scuba diving resort.

The resort is located at the epicentre of ‘Operation Hailstone’ – the U.S. Navy attack that took place on Truk Lagoon in February 1944. Many WWII relics left by the Imperial Japanese Navy remain on the premises today, including defensive pillboxes and armament.

Blue Lagoon Resort is located on a palm fringed point of Weno Island, amongst 14 acres of tropical gardens with a white sand beach and breathtaking views of the largest lagoon in the world. The resort has 54 rooms set in low, 2 storey buildings blending into the island surroundings and is the most suitable option in Truk Lagoon for divers with non-diving partners.

Blue Lagoon Resort also houses Truk’s largest dive facility: The Blue Lagoon Dive Shop. They are fully equipped to accommodate novice scuba divers, casual sport divers, and high-intensity wreck-tech and rebreather divers.
The islands and fringing coral reefs that encircle Truk Lagoon provide a protective barrier from large waves and strong ocean currents. This strategically located natural harbour is why the Imperial Japanese Navy made Truk one of their most important naval bases during WWII. Blue Lagoon Resort is just a short boat ride from the most popular wrecks.

Explore Truk Lagoon at your own pace. Their dive guides and boats are ready when you are.
