Imagination Island Eco Resort is just ten minutes by boat from Gizo town and five minutes from the airport – yet it feels like you’re the only guest amongst flocks of terns and black-tip reef sharks, in a vast, island-speckled sea.

The resort is built on a tiny sliver of land surrounded by coral reefs. Boardwalks connect the overwater restaurant and bar with the island. Sandy paths wind through the trees to the overwater bungalows.

Four Reef Bungalows are built over the water, overlooking the shallow reef flats on the sheltered south side of the island. Two of these reef bungalows are one-bedroom duplex units in one overwater bungalow, and two are standalone, two-bedroom bungalows.

In the middle of the Eco Resort is a double-storey building which houses a conference facility at ground level and a Family Suite above. The Family Suite has two bedrooms, two bathrooms a kitchenette and balcony. Kolombangara Island with its glorious sunrises and cloud-shrouded volcanic peaks, forms the backdrop.

Also upstairs are two Standard Rooms with a double bed in each. One room has a balcony and sea views, the other room has no balcony or sea views. All bungalows and rooms are fan cooled with an ensuite.

With a range of activities on offer, water so clear you can explore reefs from the decks without snorkelling, and hammocks conveniently strung everywhere, you can be as relaxed or adventurous as you choose.
